Focus on Custodial

The Custodial team are the ones who keep HQ clean and tidy and is headed by Mr Daniel Lamberth who is employed full-time at HQ and the following:
Michael Benedetti, Sherry Beezley, Laura Moniker, Lorraine Lafferty, Kelsey Perry, Geeta Muhammad, Alicia Sebro, Whitney Kelsey, Sarah Culpepper.

It's no easy task to keep HQ clean behind over 200 campers and workers and custodial does an excellent job. We don't realize how much effort goes into it.  Geeta Muhammed gave me some insight into what it takes and her impressions of being a first time worker at PYC.

The team cleans the cafeteria after every meal, wiping the tables and mopping the floor, cleaning glass doors and the bathrooms. They also clean the boys dorms in the morning. On Fridays they can be seen in their sabbath wear doing a final clean just before the Sabbath and then again after sunset on Saturdays.  In addition to the general areas they are also responsible for cleaning God's House. I was surprised to learn how the brass railings have a three-step process of cleaning - first they use a special cleaning solution, then that has to be wiped off and then the railings are polished. I will think twice about touching the railings too much in future! Vacumming the Auditorium floors can take over 3 hours and then the chairs need to be vacuumed also, plus the downstairs areas.

Geeta praised Mr Lambeth for his humur which she said helped make everything seem easy.

We all appreciate being able to have clean surroundings and I for one certainly have a much better understanding of what it takes to accomplish that. Thank you all!
